Description of AISES-UW Officer Duties
(Note: All officers will work together for all events)
The President is the AISES-UW Chapter leader. The President will inform AISES-UW Chapter members when/where meeting/events are and will lead all meetings, unless another person is designated. The President will meet with other leaders of the community, university and industry to represent the AISES-UW Chapter unless another person is designated. The President will advocate for member participation and all AISES-UW Chapter events. The President will have accesses to the Chapter bank account and with the treasure, will sign for any money that will be with-drawn in the name of the Chapter. The President will facilitate in any grant/scholarship applications.
The Vice-President will serve in the absence of the President. The Vice-President will advocate for member participation and all AISES-UW Chapter events. The Vice-President will be in charge of getting meeting refreshments and study sessions. The Vice-President will facilitate in any grant/scholarship applications.
The Treasurer is authorized to the Chapter bank account and any will manage any funds the Chapter receives. The Treasure will have accesses to the Chapter bank account and with the President, will sign for any money that will be with-drawn in the name of the Chapter. The Treasurer will facilitate in any grant/scholarship applications. The Treasurer will create a budget for the Chapter and update the budget after any monies are with-drawn and added.
The Secretary will maintain records of meeting minutes/notes, membership and any files associated with the Chapter. The Secretary will make these documents available to all members of the Chapter.
The Media Officer will be responsible to update all social media sites (website, Facebook etc.). (Note: you do not need to know how to program to do this) You will also be responsible to create flyers for AISES-UW events.
The Public Relations Officer will advocate for member participation, all AISES-UW Chapter events and go into the community to find ways we can serve others.
Freshman Leadership Board members will work with the other officers to help complete task. The purpose of this position is to teach freshman how to be an effective leader while serving others. (This position is for students that will be freshman during the 2016-2017 school year, but others may be considered under request)

Details: Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) is a program house at the University of Washington, aimed to those students wishing to pursue a career in Biomedical Research. PREP will recruit candidates from underrepresented minority, economically disadvantaged, and physically disabled groups who already hold baccalaureate degrees and wish to optimize their preparation for and successful completion of graduate studies leading to a Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences. The program will provide the following: One year Mentored Laboratory Experience, Graduate School application assistance, Travel to attend one national conference, GRE course, Writing course, Health and dental benefits, Tuition Assistance for one course at the UW and a Salary of $27,000/year. Applications for the academic year 2015-2016 are now open and until Feb 15, 2015.
